Ashland man accused of theft from teacher on school grounds
An Ashland man accused of stealing from a teacher in December 2023 at Lake Superior Elementary School faces sentencing next month. Gregory T. Secord, 31, faces one count of misdemeanor theft after authorities said he stole a small amount of money from a teacher’s bag at the school. He was also accused of entering a locked building, disorderly conduct, possession of narcotic drugs and possession of methamphetamine. The Evelyn Goldberg Briggs Memorial Library, in partnership with the Iron River Fish Hatchery, has installed a story trail on the .57 Bobcat trail that is located about a quarter mile south of the intersection of Fairview and Weidenaar roads in Tripp Township of Bayfield County. Monkelien attorneys say video backs up self defense claim
The defendant in an October shooting that left two people dead has submitted additional evidence the defense says supports his claim of self defense. Based on the evidence, Nathan Monkelien, 35, is attempting to reduce his bail and signature bond. He currently is in Ashland County Jail on a $1 million cash bond while facing two counts of first-degree intentional homicide.
