Best Dishes in Miami 2026

Because now is the time most people go to dine out, before and during the holidays, so you may be looking for places to go. All of the restaurants whose dishes are featured have been recommended by me this year so are good bets for a special dinner out. This is in effect at “go to” list as well. I have put a link to my review in the name of places I’ve written up so you can learn more. Enjoy!

"I envision a Brooklyn neo-soul-inspired restaurant where people can gather, feel at home and connect over food. The menu is personal, and so is the name. aAO reflects my journey and celebrates the hustlers, go-getters and people who keep pushing forward."

Three-time National Book Award finalist and celebrated Haitian-American author Edwidge Danticat, known for her writings across cultural lines, will deliver the keynote address on Saturday at the Americans for Immigrant Justice’s 30th anniversary gala in Miami. Danticat, who has long worked alongside Florida’s immigrant rights groups, has a deeply personal connection to the group formerly known as the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center. Dantica was placed in U.S. immigration custody after fleeing violent gangs and a political uprising in Haiti. Dantica would die in U.S. custody. His ordeal would become the basis for his niece’s award-winning memoir, Brother, I’m Dying. The book was a National Book Award finalist for nonfiction in 2007. Danticat’s short story collection Krik? Krak! was a finalist for the prestigious prize in 1995. Danticat is once again a finalist, this time for her a newly released novel, Dèy, which tells the story about a woman who witnesses a violent shooting in a Miami mall but doesn’t tell anyone. The book also explores the relationship between Haitians living in the U.S. and those
