BATTLE CREEK - The B.O.B. is back!
B.O.B. stands for the Best Of Battle Creek. Each week throughout the spring, we are going to ask, "Who is the Best Of Battle Creek?" as we look at each position in baseball and softball among the city and area high school teams.
Nominations for each position come from the area baseball and softball coaches with a little information on each player, and then it will be up to the Enquirer readers to decide who is the B.O.B.?

Tess Barnebee
School: Gull Lake
Class: Senior
Why she is the best 2B/SS in the Battle Creek area : A senior leader at shortstop for a solid Gull Lake team, Tess Barnebee is a key part of the Blue Devils' lineup with a .338 batting average with 21 runs scored and 24 RBI and owns a .828 fielding percentage.
Ciara Blankenship
School: Bronson
Class: Junior
Why she is the best 2B/SS in the Battle Creek area : With speed, bat skills and defensive ability, Ciara Blankenship is a triple threat in the Bronson lineup as a junior shortstop. She is batting .440 with 20 stolen bases.
Makenzee Grimm
School: Climax-Scotts/St. Philip
Class: Senior
Why she is the best 2B/SS in the Battle Creek area : A leader by example, the multiple-sport standout has been a key player for the Climax-Scotts/St. Philip co-op team from her shortstop position. She is hitting .330 with a .510 on-base percentage and demonstrates a solid glove on defense.
Kennedy Halverson
School: Harper Creek
Class: Sophomore
Why she is the best 2B/SS in the Battle Creek area : An all-region third baseman a year ago, Kennedy Halverson moved to shortstop this season and has had a big sophomore year. She is hitting .550 with nine home runs and a school-record 55 RBI. Showing great range and arm strength, she has a .975 fielding percentage.
Brielle Kelly
School: Marshall
Class: Sophomore
Why she is the best 2B/SS in the Battle Creek area : A constant in the Marshall lineup as the leadoff hitter, batting .489 with 33 RBI and 49 runs scored. The shortstop has been a part of seven double plays as she is a steady glove in the infield.
Mallory Kincaid
School: Athens
Class: Sophomore
Why she is the best 2B/SS in the Battle Creek area : Showing great range and a good defensive glove, Mallory Kincaid has been an important part of the Athens program. The sophomore shortstop is the team's leadoff hitter and is batting .357.
NaeLena Luna
School: Battle Creek Central
Class: Junior
Why she is the best 2B/SS in the Battle Creek area : A leader and much-improved player in the middle of the infield for the Battle Creek Central defense, NaeLena Luna is very coachable and part of a brighter future for the Bearcats.
Marin McCullough
School: Lakeview
Class: Junior
Why she is the best 2B/SS in the Battle Creek area : Three-year varsity starter, Marin McCullough is already a two-time All-City selection and was all-conference a year ago. After hitting .434 last year with 45 runs scored, the shortstop is batting .500 this season with 40 RBI. She also has a .932 fielding percentage and is part of a record-breaking double play combo.
Kennedy Miller
School: Homer
Class: Senior
Why she is the best 2B/SS in the Battle Creek area : After setting a school record for home runs in a season last year with 13 and earning all-area and all-conference honors, Kennedy Miller has had a big senior season at shortstop. She has continued to add to her offensive totals this year and is standout on defense and has committed to play at Concordia University.
Camille Oxley
School: Lakeview
Class: Junior
Why she is the best 2B/SS in the Battle Creek area : A three-year starter at second base, Camille Oxley was All-city last year after hitting .449 with 39 runs scored as the leadoff hitters for the Spartans. This season, she is hitting .372 with 30 runs scored and a .412 on-base percentage. She also has a .954 fielding percentage and is part of a record-breaking double play combo.
Kara Priddy
School: Olivet
Class: Senior
Why she is the best 2B/SS in the Battle Creek area : A three-time all-conference selection and a two-time member of the Enquirer All-Area team, Kara Priddy is also a two-year captain and a leader on and off the diamond for a young Olivet team. She hit .500 as a junior with 55 hits from her leadoff spot with 57 runs scored and had an impressive 49 stolen bases.
Jenna Wiley
School: Pennfield
Class: Freshman
Why she is the best 2B/SS in the Battle Creek area : As a freshman, Jenna Wiley has been a big part of a much-improved Pennfield team this year. Playing several position, she spends most of her time at second base and hits third in the lineup for the Panthers with a .362 batting average and 28 RBI.
