Police: 2 accused of stealing from Smithfield Family Dollar
SMITHFIELD, Va. (WAVY) — Two people are accused of shoplifting nearly $700 in merchandise from a Benns Church Boulevard Family Dollar Tuesday, Smithfield Police said. Police seek to identify two people captured in photographs that allegedly shoplifted merchandise valued at more than $687. Police said the incident took place around 5:15 p.m.

Barge, dock damaged in Norfolk fire
NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A barge in the eastern branch of the Elizabeth River and a dock were damaged in a fire Thursday on Ford Drive in Norfolk, a fire official said. Norfolk Fire-Rescue responded to a dock and vessel fire around 5:28 p.m. in the 600 block of Ford Drive, and when crews arrived, they found a barge with heavy equipment and fuel depot on board, with smoke and flames visible, according to Norfolk Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief and Public Information Officer Glen Williams.
