It seems like any time a big-named defensive lineman has entered the transfer portal, the LSU Tigers have been a team in the hunt. Whether that was Indiana transfer Philip Blidi or TCU transfer Damonic Williams, the Tigers have been in the market.

Neither of those players chose the Tigers so it's been a rough portal season as they work to upgrade a clear need. But that changed on Wednesday. LSU finally got a commitment from a highly-coveted defensive lineman.

That would be Grand Valley State's Jay'Viar Suggs.

Suggs had 21 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three sacks, five pass breakups and one forced fumble in 2022. In 2023, Suggs totaled 21 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and five sacks as well as four pass breakups and one forced fumble.

He had several teams after him along with LSU like Michigan, USC, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Florida State and Kentucky. He immediately brings experience and talent to a room that had been in need this offseason.
