Baton Rouge police officer helps deliver baby on the side of the road

A Baton Rouge police officer is being called a hero after he helped deliver a baby on the side of the road.

On Saturday, Baton Rouge Police Cpl. Jason Lee was flagged down by a passing vehicle on Greenwell Springs Road, the police department shared in a post to Facebook on Sunday.

After getting his attention, the driver informed Lee that her daughter was going to go into labor and that they needed a police escort to the nearest hospital.

However, a little while after he began escorting them, the woman had to pull over on the side of the road because she was going into labor.

The mother was assisted by her mother and Lee while waiting for medical assistance to arrive.

Jumping into help, Lee was able to see the delivery of the healthy baby boy safely.
