Rock Island County Sheriff's Office steps up seatbelt enforcement ahead of Memorial Day
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — The Rock Island County Sheriff's Office is reminding Quad Citizens to buckle up for the summer. According to a press release sent on Monday, May 13, the office will be increasing enforcement on seat belt checks through Memorial Day Weekend. According to the Sheriff's Office, Illinois had 300 fatalities involving passengers who weren't wearing their seat belt in 2022.
Crews respond to overnight fire in Davenport
DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Davenport Fire Department responded to an overnight house fire that left the home uninhabitable, officials say. Shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Monday, May 13, firefighters responded to the 3000 block of 49th Street after a neighbor called 911 reporting a porch was on fire. The first crew that arrived on scene noticed the fire was starting to spread from the porch to the house, according to a press release.

Construction updates for the Davenport schools
That's according to Superintendent TJ Schneckloth. Currently, the district is adding new turf at the high schools, moving the baseball diamond at Brady Street Stadium and adding new weight and wrestling rooms to Davenport West.
