The Anchor Boston’s Watch Wednesdays are here to stay
As the evening chill settled over Boston’s waterfront on Wednesday Oct. 28, from 8-10 pm, families and friends gathered outside The Anchor Boston for an evening of movies, conversation and warmth. As people were bundling up, the smell of popcorn and the glow of the fire pits gave the waterfront a familiar neighborhood feel, bringing people together for “Ghostbusters,” the sixth week showing of the venue’s Watch Wednesdays series.

Low Cut Connie rides a new wave of success into Boston
Low Cut Connie ’s music has always had a palpable human element, because singer/songwriter/pianist Adam Weiner writes about people and places he knows, and experiences he’s either had or observed. The fact that Weiner and his band deliver the music with the kind of all-out, joyous energy that often seems lacking in popular music today has made them a surefire live music sensation. Local fans who heard Low Cut Connie’s show at the Spire Center in Plymouth last year can attest to that. But in the past year, Weiner’s writing took on a bit more of a topical tone, as the chaos and upheaval in American life left him dismayed. Last year’s single “ Livin In the USA ,” which is seemingly a plea for understanding and an end to hostility, led to some of the most far-reaching reaction of the band’s career. You could call it notoriety if you want, and not all the attention was positive, but the most tangible result is that Weiner’s music and the band he founded in 2010 has seen more exposure than ever. Low Cut Connie is another example of that old showbiz cliché, an "overnight sensation" with their eighth album, after 16

A Humble Boston Seafood Shack Has Made A Name For Itself Across America
Crab traps hanging from the ceiling with little lights wrapped around them? That’s already my kind of seafood place. Add picnic tables covered in lobster shells, and I can practically hear people cracking claws and laughing over dinner. Forget fancy decorations. This sounds like a lot more fun. And...

ManRay spends a year planning for its Heroes Halloween, and you might want to also
“Orc, orc, orc, orc!” the masked and costumed crowd chanted around ManRay’s main stage half-past midnight on Halloween. Saturday at the legendary club is typically reserved for Heroes, a postpunk and ’80s new wave night that has no dress code but encourages creative attire. When Halloween fell on this Heroes night, partygoers took that guidance to the extreme, some for a costume contest. Among them were people dressed as superheroes, pumpkin heads and an orc – who in human form happens to be a ManRay regular.
