Bangor firefighters responded to a blaze at a home on the corner of Ohio and Wiley streets Saturday afternoon and helped rescue two people from the building, according to Assistant Fire Chief Greg Hodge.

The Bangor Fire Department received a call for the fire at 12 Wiley St. and firefighters knocked down the fire in around 30 minutes. No one was hurt, Hodge said.

When rescuers arrived, Hodge said the residents were surprised to see them.

“They didn’t even know the house was on fire so they were kind of startled when our people went in,” Hodge said. “”Our crews went in, to say pulling them out – we really more like led them out.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The 3,500-square-foot home is listed as pending sale for $335,000 at RedFin.com. The listing states the building is a rental property and is fully occupied.
