    Firefighters stop progress on nearly 5-acre brush fire south of Bakersfield

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Kern County firefighters have stopped forward progress on a brush fire burning south of Bakersfield near the Grapevine.

    The fire, known as the Laval Incident, started just before noon on Thursday near Edmonston Pumping Plant Road just east of Interstate 5.

    Kern County Fire Public Information Officer Jonathan Drucker said the fire burned approximately 5 acres. Firefighters will remain on scene to put out any remaining hot spots.
