Home inventory gains as price median slips
Demand for homes in Bakersfield jumped in April but supply jumped higher, leaving median prices moderately lower at the start of peak homebuying season. In a month when California set a record high median sale price, as buyers and sellers alike adjust to higher interest rates, a new report says Bakersfield's median for existing homes slipped 1.8% to $377,900, while that of new homes slid 2.1% to $435,717. Both also finished somewhat lower year over year.
