Low streamflow has stopped 11 shale gas water withdrawals across Bradford, Susquehanna and Tioga counties, with seven additional withdrawal points now on watch status as they edge toward the same operating restrictions. The numbers come from the Susquehanna River Basin Commission’s hydrologic-conditions monitoring, which tracks when drought-stressed creeks and rivers in the basin can no longer support industrial water pulls.

The U.S. Navy has awarded a $2.4 billion contract to Fluor Marine Propulsion for work at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory, according to an Oct. 23 news release. Fluor Marine Propulsion, a subsidiary of Irving, Texas-based Fluor, received the cost-plus-fixed-fee modification for nuclear propulsion work, according to the release.
