Conway-Horry County Airport unveils multi-million dollar runway, airfield improvement project
CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) - Planes landing in the Grand Strand will have a smoother descent after a $6.1 million project was completed at the Conway-Horry County Airport. The airport’s airfield improvement project gives the runway and taxiways a new look. Crews reconstructed the runway with five inches of concrete and the taxi-ways with four inches of asphalt.

Rankin, Benton seeking Republican nomination for SC senate seat
A 31-year incumbent and the owner of an Horry County concrete company are set to face off in a Republican primary race in June. Incumbent Luke Rankin, who was first elected in 1993, and Autry Benton, a former Conway city councilman and concrete business owner, are vying for a four-year term in the South Carolina Senate District 33 seat, which encompasses parts of Conway and Myrtle Beach, and Carolina Forest. Both candidates are Conway natives.
3 running in Republican primary for House District 61
Three are vying for the Republican nomination for South Carolina House District 61. Incumbent Carla Schuessler was first elected in 2022 to the newly formed district, which encompasses a large portion of Conway and areas to the west of U.S. 501 down to Highway 17. Running against her are Patrick Herrmann and Shannon Grady.
