    Virginia man sentenced for felony drug crime in Fayette County

    FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WVNS) — A Virginia man was sentenced to prison for a felony drug crime in Fayette County.

    34-year-old Joshua A. Moore, of Axton, Virginia, was sentenced on April 26, 2024 to ten years in prison for the felony offense of conspiracy. He will need to spend two years and six months in prison before becoming eligible for parole.

    A member of the Fayetteville Police Department held a traffic stop on a car on July 21, 2022. The car was going 64 mph in a 50 mph zone on U.S. Route 19.

    The car was driven by Moore, and the officer noticed drug paraphernalia in the console once they were at the car, as well as two passengers, Tommy J. Strothers and Jessica L. Roop.

    Once the car was searched, officers discovered what was believed to be controlled substances, packaging materials, and digital scales.

    Laboratory tests revealed that Moore, Strothers, and Roop were in possession of around half a gram of fentanyl and more than 35 grams of methamphetamine.
