11-year-old airlifted after dog attack
An 11-year-old was bitten by the family dog in Luling Friday morning. Responding officers applied a tourniquet to the child's leg to stop the bleeding. Jazz funeral procession, second line honors Louisiana lives lost during COVID pandemic
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Stepping in time, the walking track at City Park became a memorial long overdue for the many local lives lost to the COVID-19 pandemic. A Saturday (May 25) jazz funeral and second line through City Park provided the chance to properly grieve those not formally laid to rest because of public health restrictions preventing large gatherings.
Search underway for two persons of interest in Plum Orchard homicide, NOPD reports
NEW ORLEANS — Police in New Orleans are searching for two men in connection to the investigation of a homicide in the Plum Orchard neighborhood of New Orleans East. “On May 19, around 6:30 a.m., Seventh District officers were called to a shooting incident in the 4400 block of Werner Drive. Upon arrival they discovered the victim on the street in front of a residence suffering from at least one gunshot wound,” said an NOPD report.
Gambit's Thumbs Up / Thumbs Down for May 27
Which works to support Black and Brown bartenders in New Orleans, will use a $25,000 grant from nonprofit Another Round Another Rally (ARAR) to finance its workforce development program. Turning Tables was one of three groups to win grants from ARAR, which helps hospitality workers with scholarships and emergency assistance. Turning Table’s “Earn and Learn” program helps up-and-coming bartenders with technical training, networking and job placements.

The lineup of Cajun and zydeco musicians includes Rosie Ledet, Geno Delafose & French Rockin’ Boogie, Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. and Waylon Thibodeaux on Saturday. Jourdan Thibodeaux and Sheryl Cormier & the Cajun Sounds perform Friday evening. The event is both indoors and outdoors at the George and Joyce Wein Center. NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The same story will remain in place over the next few days across our area. High pressure aloft will keep daytime heating storms from developing and also keep clusters of storms to our north. This could change as we get into later Monday or Tuesday. The ridge starts to break down and we could see some of those storm cluster back into our area. There is still a question on when that happens though. Right now it looks like we see rain chances go up Tuesday and Wednesday, at least in an isolated fashion.
