Little League games delayed
Albany Little League’s regular season will last just a little longer thanks to a pair of rainy days last week. Little League president Paul Hamilton said games scheduled for Thursday, May 2 and Friday, May 3 will be made up next week. The Oilers and Indians will play Thursday, May 16. A makeup date for the Reds and Eagles had not been determined at press time.
Sports banquet set May 13
Albany Athletics Booster Club will honor the achievements of the Lions and Lady Lion steams Monday, May 13 at the annual athletic awards banquet. The school year has seen Albany advance to the post season in nine sports and state competition in three. Still competing are the Lions baseball team, which entered the second round of the playoffs this weekend, and the tennis program, which has six entries at this week’s Region II-2A tournament.

Study Club to raffle quilt in annual library fundraiser
To raise money for its scholarship fund, the Albany Study Club will once again sell raffle tickets for a quilt. This year’s quilt, donated by Louann George, is currently on display at the Shackelford County Library and will be included in the Study Club Quilt Show at the Whitney Theatre the last two weeks of June.
Hill, Roberson medal again at state meet
Albany athletes had an upand-down day Friday, May 3 at the Class 2A state track meet, but the ups were way up. Seniors Adam Hill (300 hurdles) and Kiana Roberson (discus) both won gold medals, while Hill also got silver in the shot put, and Luke Marshall (pole vault) just missed adding a track medal to the golf bronze he earned earlier in the week.
