NWS confirms EF-1 in Joplin Monday night
JOPLIN, Mo. — Joplin school administrators said a malfunction caused a delay in opening one of its safe rooms during Monday night’s storms. Around nine o’clock Monday night, school administrators sent out reminders about the safe rooms saying they would open when a tornado warning was issued or the tornado sirens sounded.
Granby’s first dog park now open
GRANBY, Mo. — There’s a new spot for dog owners to take their four-legged friends. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held, Friday, for Granby’s first-ever dog park. It’s located at 408 S Main St. and is free and open to the public. It was built and funded through the Four-Corners Board of Realtors Community Outreach Program.

Abi Almandinger from the Carthage Parks and Rec Department came by to get you all hyped up for the summer! This week has been rough for them, as Carthage has taken some severe weather recently and has lost many trees across their local parks. Additionally, they’re getting ready for Memorial Day to kick off the summer! There’s currently two pools, one at Municipal Park and a kiddy pool at Central Park being prepped and cleaned for the season. It only cost $3 to get in and they will be open Monday through Saturday 12-6 and Sunday 1-6. The Kiddy Pool is Monday and Friday 12-4. There will also be an advanced Sushi class this Saturday, but it is already full. There will be another one coming in June so be on the look out for details! Carthage mayor calls special council meeting ‘a major violation of the Sunshine Law’
CARTHAGE, Mo. — Things got ugly Friday (5/10) at a special meeting of the Carthage City Council. In fact, the meeting became very contentious at times. After a heated exchange with Carthage Councilmember, Tiffany Cossey, fellow Councilmember, Chris Taylor excused himself from the meeting. While leaving the council chambers, Taylor addressed the mayor, saying, “Excuse me Mr. Mayor. I’m sorry for the problem. Because It’s either I leave, or I’m going to go to jail.”

CARTHAGE, Mo. — Crews with Carthage Water and Electric as well as Paschal Air, Plumbing and Electric say as power is restored, there are some things you’ll want to do. The most recommended tip is checking your HVAC system; making sure its connected and turned on are the first signs to check for to know its back on.
Cleanup efforts are underway after this week's storms made their way through the 4 states
Wednesday Storms – Parts of the four states are dealing with the aftermath of Wednesday's storms. In Miami, several homes suffered severe damage while other parts of the city received only minor damage and downed trees. In Monett Missouri, fallen trees have wreaked havoc, knocking power out throughout the city. Multiple buildings are damaged including McDonald’s and Walmart. City officials are saying the cleanup could take several weeks. As of this time, no injuries have been reported.
