    Mikulski’s homer pushes Bethlehem baseball past Averill Park in game one

    TROY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Joe Bruno Stadium played host to the beginning of two Section 2 baseball championship series on Thursday. The first matchup found the eight-seed in Class AA, Averill Park, starting their title series with the two-seed, Bethlehem.

    Bethlehem’s Scott Sleurs got the scoring started with an RBI base hit in the first inning. The Eagles added one more in the frame to go up by two after one. Averill Park tallied two productive outs in the fourth inning to tie the game at two.

    In the bottom of the frame, Christian Mikulski went deep for a two-run homer to give the Eagles a 4-2 lead. It would stand as the game-winner, as Bethlehem held on to take game one 4-2.

    The Eagles will look to close out Averill Park on Thursday at 4:00 PM. The Warriors will look to push the series to a game three.
