77 intelligence jobs slated for elimination at Fort Gordon

Amentum is an operations management company that specializes in staffing facilities with employees who require high security clearances. It recently announced it will permanently cut 77 jobs. Someday soon: Primark delays Augusta Mall opening, scraps Sept. 10 debut Amentum recently lost its intelligence support contract. The company filed notice of the job cuts Sept. 4 as required under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. State labor departments and employment agencies compile the notices. In Georgia, the state Department of Labor and the Technical College System of Georgia compile them. Earlier reports mentioning the fort's Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center as the source of the layoffs relied on incorrect information, according to the hospital's spokesman. Scott Speaks told The Augusta Chronicle on Tuesday that the WARN notice sent by the state agencies included the precise address for the fort's hospital as the "location" of the layoffs, even though they are "not health services-related." This story was updated because an earlier version included an inaccuracy. This article originally appeared on Augusta Chronicle: 77 intelligence jobs slated for elimination at Fort Gordon
