    Our five finalists for the 2024 Central Texas boys soccer player of the year award

    The American-Statesman's All-Central Texas boys soccer team will be revealed on Sunday, when we'll also announce our 2024 boys player of the year along with newcomer and coach of the year. This year's player of the year candidates are made up of four seniors and one junior, including two players who led their teams to the state tournament.

    Emmy Aranda, Vandegrift

    Aranda wrapped up his high school career with impressive numbers — 23 goals and nine assists — to lead the Vipers to the District 25-6A championship and the program's first-ever UIL state soccer tournament appearance and overall 22-3-2 season.

    Jake Ciccarello, Bowie

    Ciccarello was a senior rock for the Bulldogs, who went 22-1-2 and advanced to the third round of the Class 6A state playoffs behind the midfielder's brilliant play and distribution.

    Lawrence Doe, Connally

    Doe tallied 31 goals and 13 assists as the Cougars won District 23-5A and went to the second round of the playoffs.

    Tito Don Juan, Glenn

    The Grizzlies' junior scored 25 goals and had 23 assists this season, leading Glenn to a 29-1-1 record and a spot in the Class 5A state tournament.

    Martin Valdes, Georgetown

    Valdes produced an eye-popping 41 goals and 10 assists for an Eagles team that went to the second round of the Class 5A playoffs and finished with 18 wins.
