Massive April Snows Forecasted For the West Including Hawaii and The Texas Foothills.

An approaching low pressure system will move ashore late next week first impacting the Hawaii mountain ranges before spreading 4-7 feet into the Sierra and Rockies. Cold air will spread south and bring snowfall as far south as Texas, just in time for the Eclipse on April 8th. Some models show 12-18 inches for Austin above 300 feet.

The Eclipse shadows and dancing beads, according to eclipse chasers will be as epic as it comes. The last full eclipse saw totality over Jackson Hole mountain Resort in 2017. This year we could see those shadows in the snow covered hills near Austin.

Hawaii might be the place to be for both waves and powder in the same day! You could hit Mauna Kea on the Big Island for the morning and then ride the waves in the afternoon. Then chase to the Sierra, Rockies, and Texas for eclipse viewing in the snow covered hills near Austin.

Jackson Hole Ski area in celebration of this upcoming storm as a previous host to the Eclipse has announced a few changes to the Tram Line. For the first time ever, JHMR will allow locals to board early trams from the side dock starting at 8 AM for fresh powder. Guides and Ski School will load from the main line below at 9 AM.

Alta has also announced a few changes in anticipation of the storm next weekend, deciding to recognize boarders as a "protected class". Snowboarders will have exclusivity to ride the High Traverse at Alta, while skiers at Alta will have full access to the Chickadee chairlift (including the chutes) at Snowbird. Chickadee will remain ungroomed for the upcoming storm and offer an exclusive private resort experience. In fact, officials at the resort will be serving free corn dogs to those with the fattest skis.

Writers Note : Happy April Fools Day!  JHMR, the Bird and Alta had powder today. There is a Legit storm headed to the Sierra and Rockies late this week into the weekend (The true part of the story). Winter is not over! Powderchasers sees deepness headed out west. Moisture or clouds might actually impact the April 8th Eclipse but it is too early to say with confidence. ULLR is still with us.
