Estes keeps city council seat
AZLE — Despite a chance to shake up city council, Azle residents resolved to leave things just as they are in the most recent election. Three seats on the Azle City Council were up for grabs on May 4, but ultimately only one was contested. Derrick Nelson and Rouel Rothenberger of Place 1 and Place 5 ran uncontested and won their races with 100% of the vote. The incumbent for Place 2, Amy Estes, was challenged by newcomer and law enforcement officer Jake Falcon. In Tarrant County, Estes received 259 total votes (82.75%) while Falcon garnered 54 votes (17.25%). Residents of the Parker County side of Azle voted for Estes 37 to Falcon’s 4 or 90.24% to 9.76%.

Cross Timbers Golf Course closes greens, offers reduced rates
AZLE — According to the City of Azle, greens 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11 and 13 at Cross Timbers Golf Course will be temporarily closed starting May 8. With parts of the course closed, green 3 will be played as a short par-4 and 10 will be played as a par-3. Due to last summer’s droughts and cold temperatures this winter, parts of the course will be under maintenance starting Wednesday.
