(Audubon, IA) – The Audubon boy’s tennis team was able to keep things close with Southwest Valley on Tuesday as they may have fallen 7-2, but the singles matches were close down to the wire. This was a new lineup for the Wheelers and it looked much better stat-wise and better in the eyes of head coach Maryssa Soder.

Issac Jackson was able to keep things close overall but was dealing with shin splints as he fell 3-8 to Evan Timmerman. Austin Matthews was able to pull away with a great win and the only singles win on the day for Audubon after securing his first second-seed victory of the season. Most of the Wheelers started out on top in their respective matches as Kayden was up 3-0 Sawyer was leading 3-0, and Lincoln was up for the majority of the match until he was at 5-4. Coach Soder was impressed with what her boys were able to do but knows that finishing the matches are a top priority moving forward.

The doubles matches were not able to fully finish on the day due to the weather making its mark. The Wheelers were able to win 4-1 with Sorter and Schmidt beating Southwest Valley’s James and Means in the number three doubles match.
