Academic Honors & Awards: I have a 4.0 GPA and I am the valedictorian of the Kingman High School 2024 graduating class. High School Involvement: I have been involved in FBLA, STUCO, NHS, Band, Scholars Bowl, powerlifting, and tennis. In FBLA, I have been a State Officer for one term, a local officer for three years, and qualified to compete at the national level three times. In STUCO, I have been a member for three years as a class officer. In NHS, I have been a member since my sophomore year. In band, I have been the flute section leader, the marching band Drum Major for one year, I have participated in the K-State All-Star Marching Band for three years, and I have attended the K-State Concert Band Clinic two years. In Scholars Bowl, I have been the team captain on many occasions. In powerlifting, I have the titles of 2022 2A 140 Weight Class State Champion and 2024 2A 123 Weight Class State Runner-Up. In tennis, I have competed at the regional tournament for four years.
Truck driver seriously injured in semitrailer crash Thursday in south-central Kansas
KINGMAN, Kan. (WIBW) - A truck driver suffered serious injuries in a crash early Thursday in Kingman County in south-central Kansas, officials said. The crash was reported at 1:30 a.m. Thursday at K-14 highway and S.E. 50th Street. The location was about 4 miles south of the city of Kingman.
Woman seriously hurt in crash south of Salina
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Medicine Lodge woman was seriously hurt in a crash near Salina. The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. Monday about 9 miles south of Salina, on Interstate 135 just north of the Old Highway 81 junction. Troopers say the 34-year-old woman was heading north on I-135 when, for an unknown reason, she left the road on the right side.
Softball Recap: Spearville snaps five-game streak of losses on the road
After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Spearville was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Medicine Lodge Indians. This was a revenge contest for Spearville, as the team was forced to settle for a 16-1 loss when these two played on Tuesday.

Friday marks 33 years since devastating F-5 'Andover Tornado'
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Friday marks 33 years since of one of Kansas' most devastating tornadoes. Known as the Andover Tornado, the F-5 caused damage across Harper, Sedgwick and Butler Counties on April 26, 1991. That twister claimed 17 lives -- most of them taken from the Golden Spur mobile home park.
New Kingman EMS Chief named
KINGMAN, Kan. — Matthias Brand has been selected as the new Chief of Kingman EMS and Rescue. He will start Monday, April 29. Brand said in a letter posted online, "With a background rooted in emergency medical services and a passion for serving communities, I am honored to take on this role and contribute to the safety and well-being of the community."
Softball Recap: Jhayla Alojacin can't quite lead Medicine Lodge over Kingman
Medicine Lodge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 12-4 to the Kingman Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Medicine Lodge of the 16-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.
