This time a throwing error from Sharp would allow a runner to score from third base, making it a 3-1 game at the time with Athens still firmly in it.

The Bulldogs would get a pair of runners on base in the bottom of the fifth but couldn’t convert, all before Jackson ripped off a four-run sixth inning to open up a significant lead. The Ironmen would get their runs with a pair of RBI singles and a bases-loaded hit by pitch to create the six-run lead.

Athens would get runners on base in each of the final two frames but the deficit was just too great as the Bulldogs had to accept the reality of their first loss in a month.
