    New federal building completed, will house the U.S Post Office with John T. Kingston as Postmaster.

    Legion Auxiliary workers sold over 8,000 Poppies in one day. A large percentage of the funds raised will be used for relief work in Ashland.

    Northland College to celebrate 34th commencement exercise with only one graduate. The others scheduled were either in the military, employed in war work or already teaching.

    Ashland’s seventh war loan campaign got underway with a spam and egg breakfast for 69 volunteers who were o sell $373,000 in bonds in Ashland as soon as possible.

    An Old Fashioned Walk was the theme of the Junior Prom held at the Dodd Gym. Leading the Grand March were King Jerry Munson & Queen Mary Jean Sullivan.
