    Youth representing Ashland veteran organizations will place flowers on Memorial Day

    The City of Ashland Memorial Day parade and service will be held Monday beginning with a parade at 10 a.m. Lineup begins at 9 a.m. on Fourth Street.

    The parade will travel down Union Street to Main Street and disband at Ashland Cemetery, where the service will begin immediately.

    The featured speaker will be Ashland County Sheriff-Elect Kurt Schneider. Master of ceremonies will be E. Wayne Risner. Vocalist for the service will be Melody Barnes, while Don Earlenbaugh will serve as chaplain.

    Flower representatives from each veteran’s post will place bouquets during the service.

    Representing American Legion Harry Higgins Post 88 will be Camden Williams, 7. He is the son of Nikki and Ben Williams.

    Representing VFW Post 1067 will be Addyson Grannis, 7, and Adrianna Reed-Banks, 11. Addyson is the daughter of Denne Lynch and Nicholas Lynch. Adrianna is the daughter of Tyrone and Nikki Banks.

    Representing Amvets Post 96 are Abigail Moore, 6, and Alaina Spreng, 10. Abigail is the daughter off E. Jeffrey and Kaitlyn Moore and Alaina is the daughter of Ronda Gray and Bryon Spreng.

    The entry process for the parade is open for residents, churches, businesses and organizations. Entries should focus on patriotism.

    Parade rules are:

    • No candy throwing or handing out candy to the spectators
    • Floats and vehicles must be patriotically decorated and display the American flag.
    • No political or controversial groups, organizations or advertising
    • No for sale signs allowed on any vehicle.

    The parade committee reserves all rights to reject any proposed entry.
