    25 WNC high school softball players to watch during the 2024 NCHSAA playoffs

    The final week of the regular season is wrapping up for Western North Carolina softball. The area has plenty of stars and talented teams that can make a splash in the NCHSAA playoffs.

    Here are 25 WNC softball players to watch as postseason play begins.

    Claire Wilson, Brevard, Jr.: Wilson has been one of WNC's top hitters, batting .645 with four home runs, 15 doubles and 34 RBIs, all without striking out once.

    Emma Bailey, Brevard, So.: Bailey's ERA is 2.03 with 78 strikeouts over 110.1 innings pitched and has a 12-5 record.

    Averi Coggins, Enka: Coggins is batting .551 for the Sugar Jets with 21 RBIs and two home runs. She also has stolen 17 bases.

    Kelsie West, Enka: The second baseman's batting average is up to .431 on the season, and she's driven in 21 runs to go along with two home runs.

    Kendall Rumans, Franklin, So.: The pitcher and infielder has a .552 average with 12 home runs and 37 RBIs and a 2.87 ERA with 91 strikeouts.

    Avery Moffitt, Franklin, Sr.: Moffitt has hit 10 home runs while batting .460 with 33 RBIs. She has five doubles and hit a grand slam.

    Carrie Gunter, Madison, Jr.: Gunter is 7-2 with a 2.52 ERA and has struck out 72 batters. She also has 10 doubles and 21 RBIs and a .471 average.

    Addie Sams, Madison, Fr.: Sams is batting .534 with 10 doubles and 13 RBIs.

    Sage Young, McDowell, Jr.: Young has been solid for the Titans, helping them win their first Mountain Athletic Conference crown. Her batting average sits at .491 and she has 17 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

    Kinsley McKinney, McDowell, So.: McKinney has recorded a 2.40 ERA for the Titans in 70 innings pitched, helping them to a conference title.

    Paisley Johnson, Murphy, So.: Johnson has given up 13 earned runs in 83.1 innings pitched for an ERA of 1.09. She has 131 strikeouts.

    Sadie Jo Hunter, North Buncombe, Fr.: Hunter's 0.52 ERA is the fifth-best number in the state and she's racked up 126 strikeouts. She's also batting .444 with five home runs.

    Mia Roland, Owen, Fr.: Roland has powered the Warhorses with five home runs, 32 RBIs and 33 runs scored while batting .516.

    Sophie Neal, Owen, Jr.: Neal is 11-1 with a 1.86 ERA and 108 strikeouts in 82.2 innings.

    Addie Foust, Pisgah, So.: Foust is helping to pace Pisgah's offense with a .436 average, 21 RBIs and eight doubles while striking out only twice.

    Sadie Messer, Pisgah, Jr.: Messer has struck out 105 batters in 73.1 innings pitched, including 14 in an upset victory over Enka on April 24.

    Autumn Edmonds, Reynolds, Jr.: Edmonds is batting .396 with 20 RBIs.

    Zoie Shuler, Robbinsville, Sr.: The Tennessee commit is batting .581 with 24 RBIs and nine home runs.

    Suri Watty, Robbinsville, So.: Over her first 20 games, Watty is batting .537 with nine doubles and 32 RBIs.

    Sophie Roberts, Robbinsville, So.: The catcher has hit eight home runs while batting .500 with 29 RBIs for the Black Knights' powerful offense.

    POWER RANKINGS: No. 1 spot changes in the WNC high school softball power rankings as state playoffs approach

    Rylee Rawls, Swain County, So.: Rawls has racked up 129 strikeouts over 83 innings, recording an ERA of 2.02.

    Sarah Walker, West Henderson, Jr.: Walker has been dominant on both sides of the ball. She's batting .462 with four home runs and 24 RBIs while recording a 1.49 ERA with 87 strikeouts in 64 innings pitched.

    Haley Littrell, West Henderson, Jr. : Alongside Walker, Littrell has been half of West Henderson's dynamic pitching duo. She has 32 strikeouts and a 0.91 ERA in 30 innings pitched. She's also hit four home runs.

    Makena Henderson, West Henderson, So.: The catcher has hit four home runs with 21 RBIs while batting .463.

    Kayden Lyda, West Henderson, Jr.: Lyda's average is up to .506 with three home runs, 15 RBIs, 12 walks and 15 stolen bases.
