    Asheville James Beard Award-winning restaurant announces closure, reopening dates

    ASHEVILLE - Moving day is fast approaching for downtown Asheville restaurant, Chai Pani.

    The James Beard award-winning Indian street food eatery is relocating to a more spacious home on the South Slope.

    A second Botiwalla, a sister concept specializing in grilled Indian street foods, is planned for downtown.

    Plan your meals accordingly, as the dates have been confirmed for Chai Pani’s temporary closure and grand reopening.

    On May 12, Mother’s Day, Chai Pani will have its last day of service at 22 Battery Park Ave.

    From May 13-20, Chai Pani will be closed to the public.

    On May 21, Chai Pani will have its grand reopening at its new location, 32 Banks Ave. ― the former site of the Chai Pani Restaurant Group’s now defunct Buxton Hall BBQ.

    Dates to be announced for Botiwalla’s downtown opening at 22 Battery Park Ave.

    For now, diners may visit Botiwalla’s West Asheville location at 697 Haywood Road.
