ASBURY PARK, NJ – In a show of solidarity, five of New Jersey’s leading AIDS Service Organizations came together on Sunday, May 5th, to host a unified statewide AIDS awareness walk. Despite the gloomy weather, the event saw a strong turnout, with thousands participating in streets, parks, and along the boardwalks across the state.

The Center in Asbury Park , a beacon of hope in the battle against HIV/AIDS since 1992, played a pivotal role in organizing the walk. The center's ongoing commitment aims to end the epidemic by 2030, honoring those lost to the disease.

Local politicians and community members alike braved the rain, demonstrating their support for the cause. The event not only served as a memorial but also as a platform to raise crucial funds for ongoing support and research. This year’s New Jersey AIDS Walk successfully raised more than $113,000 statewide, with The Center in Asbury Park contributing over $12,000 to the cause.

The funds raised will support various programs designed to assist those living with HIV/AIDS.

For those who missed the event but still wish to contribute, donations will be accepted through the month of June via the event’s website. Looking ahead, organizers are enthusiastic about next year’s walk, scheduled for May 4, 2025, promising another opportunity for community engagement on the Asbury Park Boardwalk.
