Second Weekend Of June Events
There are several events planned in the Mother Lode this weekend of June 8th and 9th. It is 2nd Saturday Art Night in Downtown Sonora and the Summer Concert Series will feature Hired Gunn in Coffill Park at 6 PM. Bring chairs to the free event and be prepared to dance, shops will be open later than usual with live music and exhibits the event is sponsored by the Sonora Chamber of Commerce.

Update: Power Outage In Groveland Impacts Nearly 2,000
Update at 3:15 p.m.: PG&E crews have restored power to all 1,877 customers in the Groveland areas of Tuolumne County that lost power this morning around 9:30 a.m. Most were in the Pine Mountain Lake area and its airport. The utility did not release a cause for the nearly four-hour outage.

SONORA – The maquiladora company Tetakawi presented awards to the ninth generation of the Centro de Capacitación y Talento Empresarial (CCTE). “The Government of Sonora and the business sector have worked together in favor of education and inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace, through life skills courses offered by the CCTE,” said Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño.
Man Rescued From Cold, Swift Creek In Strawberry
Strawberry, CA – A man stranded in the middle of a creek in Strawberry had to be saved from the raging waters using a human chain technique. The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (SAR) Team responded to a life-threatening situation at Herring Creek last Saturday, June 1st. The man had fallen into the waterway and was stuck on a rock in the middle of the creek. Meanwhile, SAR was conducting air operations training with California Highway Patrol CHP Helicopter 40. It and the Swiftwater team members left training and responded to the scene.

Calaveras County Water District Secures $11.2 Million
San Andreas, CA– The Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) has secured $11.2 million from the Army Corps of Engineers as part of the 2024 federal budget to enhance the Copper Cove Wastewater Treatment Plant and Reclamation Facility. This allocation is the largest Section 219 Environmental Infrastructure funding in California and the third-largest nationwide for 2024.
