Urbana asks for special census after 7% population decrease
URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The city of Urbana is asking the Census Bureau for a recount. Mayor Diane Marlin said the 2020 census was 7% lower than the previous population count ten years ago. She said many of the areas that saw population loss were edging U of I’s campus during the pandemic when students were learning remotely.
