Falcons baseball played two games last week, facing two home losses to Andover and Coon Rapids in conference play April 23 and 25.

Armstrong entered last week on a good run. Despite some losses, the Falcons had earned a solid 4-3 record from the first three weeks of the season, including three conference wins from five Northwest Suburban opponents.

The Falcons opened last week with an action-packed 6-4 loss to Andover at home April 23. Tanner Rausch and Luke Weisjahn both hit 1RBI in the loss, while Dayton Franke and Gideon Breker each earned runs. Jack Schultz scored two runs as well, while pitching three innings alongside four from Sam Schultz.

The Falcons then faced a 7-3 loss to Coon Rapids at home April 25, adjusting their Northwest Suburban conference record to 3-4, 4-5 overall.

Coon Rapids built an early lead with two runs in the first and second innings each, plus one in the fifth. Armstrong answered with one run in the bottom of the fifth, as well as two in the seventh, but the comeback was not to be.

Gideon Breker, Will Hoffrogge, and Ray Welters all did their part on the mound for Armstrong against Coon Rapids, working to get the hosts in control. Strong defensive play from their counterparts with the Cardinals prevented Armstrong’s promising batters from getting a foothold.

Armstrong will play three games the following week, traveling to Rogers Tuesday, April 30, before hosting Maple Grove Thursday, May 2, and traveling to Cooper Friday, May 3.
