Cleveland to become two way street
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The only full time one-way street in the City of Hutchinson is going away. That is Cleveland Street in front of Graber Elementary. "We've been in conversations with the city a number of different times over the past years to remedy that issue of drop-off, pick-up in the morning and then again in the afternoon with the one-way street, the challenges that it causes for safety for our students and our families," said Randy Norwood with Hutchinson USD 308.
Teufel: IRBs will give GunBros 'opportunity here to grow'
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson City Council approved Industrial Revenue Bonds for a gun range project to be built east of Walmart on 17th Avenue. "We started meeting with the owners of GunBros and their developer a few months ago," said Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce CEO Debra Teufel. "GunBros located in downtown Hutch a few years ago and currently have a retail sales operation, but what they really are finding is customers that are purchasing guns and ammunition really like to try the product."
Bond vote timeline not set
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Now that the Hutchinson USD 308 Board of Education has given the go-ahead to a bond amount, it's time to let the public know what that would likely cost. "Sixty five percent or more of the 1,700 people that took the survey said they would support around an $8 increase on $100,000 house on a monthly basis. So an $8 a month increase. That equates to about $110 million," said USD 308 Superintendent Dr. Dawn Johnson. "The board made the decision that they would approve up to $110 million going forward. Now our next steps are finding the time that they want to do that."
