GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) - Staff at Red River Potatoes in Grand Forks were evacuated this morning, May 7, after a small fire. The Grand Forks Fire Departments says they received a call just before 3 a.m. for a report of a structure fire at 2250 Mill Rd.

Grand Forks Police warn of ‘Operation Homeless’ scam
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) - The Grand Forks Police Department is warning banks and businesses that “Operation Homeless” may again be in the area. They say “Operation Homeless” is a scam where suspects find homeless people, or those who are in need of money, and convince them to cash counterfeit checks. In return, they receive a small portion of the money cashed.

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help Bennett Brien pay for his medical costs. Brien is a native of Belcourt, North Dakota, and has been a prominent artist in the state since graduating from the University of North Dakota with BFA and MFA degrees in sculpture. He has pieces in such locations as the Grand Forks police station and the state capitol grounds in Bismarck. He’s likely best known for his Sioux logo design, which was used by the university for a decade before the Sioux name was permanently retired.
