Scotts Valley native Dom Parrish earns trip to Summer Olympics
Dominique “Dom” Parrish’s legacy continues to grow after the former Scotts Valley High wrestling star qualified for the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The 27-year-old Scotts Valley native beat 2016 Olympian Haley Augello, two matches to none, in the 53 kilograms division finals at the U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team Trials in State College, Penn., on April 20.
Watsonville’s Nate Aguilar, Amelia Martinez named Preps of the Week | Pajaronian Sports Ticker
This week’s edition of the Pajaronian Sports Ticker highlights local prep athletes for their performances during the week of April 15-21. Boys: Watsonville High junior Nate Aguilar won three events for the Wildcatz boys’ track and field team in a 69-64 win April 17 to help the ‘Catz finish out the Pacific Coast Athletic League Mission Division dual meet season with a 3-1 record in league action. Aguilar took first in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 9 inches, followed by victories in the triple jump (40-03 1/2) and high jump (5-08). He also placed 11th in the triple jump at the CCS Top 8 Invite at Los Gatos on April 20.
Live Oak lacrosse rolling to league title
The Live Oak boys lacrosse team is rolling to the Blossom Valley Athletic League title. The Acorns are 5-0 and have outscored opponents 72-8. The recent first-place showdown with Christopher High resulted in an 11-1 win, with three Acorn goals from Kenyon Castro and two each by Ben Ledwith and Ryan Forbis.
