Did you know where in the Valley this fence is?
Congratulations to Sal O., the first reader to give us the correct location for Monday's "Where in the Valley?" photo . State of play: The decorative fence is at 5th Avenue and Jackson Street in downtown Phoenix, outside the Icehouse . The Icehouse is an events and arts venue with a long and colorful history. Flashback: It was built in 1910 for Constable Ice Storage and used — as the name suggests — to store massive blocks of ice, per Downtown Phoenix Journal . The Phoenix Police Department later used it as an evidence storage facility, which for a time housed murdered Arizona Republic reporter Don Bolles' bombed car . Helen Hestenes and David Therrien bought it from the city 1990 and converted into an arts and performance space , which became a popular spot for raves. The venue is still available to rent today.
