KENTUCKY ( FOX 56 ) — A Jefferson County judge has filed an order that will prohibit former Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin from entering his wife’s home after accusing him of “aggressive and unsettling” conduct in an affidavit.

The order comes following their ongoing divorce case. According to an affidavit filed on behalf of Glenna Bevin, the pair have lived separately since September 2021.

The affidavit was filed on April 23, accusing the former governor of entering and staying in her Anchorage home several times a week for multiple hours, despite being asked to leave. Glenna called his behavior “aggressive and unsettling” and “disruptive to the household,” where she and two of their children still live.

In the motion, Glenna goes on to allege that he often attempts to discuss the divorce, and if she tries to disengage, he will proceed to follow her from room to room, including her bedroom and bathroom.

“I don’t feel like negotiating with him without counsel is not fair and have told him so,” Glenna alleges in the affidavit.

Glenna’s representation, according to court documents, requested that the judge bar Matt from entering her home without notice, visiting their children in his own home, and limiting their communication through a parenting app and with counsel present.

On April 26, Matt’s response was filed on his behalf, and in the affidavit, he denies all allegations. It goes on to affirm that both parties are in the process of selling the home in which Glenna resides and states that barring him from the home would be counterproductive.

“He is at a loss as to why Glenna would now want to block him from coming to the Nutwood house to spend time with his children,” court documents assert. “For Glenna to now attempt to take this away from Matt, is callous and harmful to his relationship with the children.”

Matt alleges, in the affidavit, that his primary reason for going to the home is to see their children.

On April 30, Jefferson County Judge Angela Johnson approved Glenna’s request to prohibit Matt from entering the home unannounced.

“The truth of the matter is that the parties are getting a divorce,” Johnson wrote. “Normalcy and the ‘business as usual’ environment are gone. While the respondent [Matt] can delay these changes, these changes are happening.”

Johnson states that she decided to move on with the order since Matt hasn’t slept in the home in the last two years and hopes to help begin the process of the family adjusting to the oncoming changes.

In a week’s time, per court documents, Matt will only be allowed to access the home to retrieve essential items and must gain permission from Glenna or the court before arrival. As well, the home must be listed for sale within 60 days.

Johnson also granted Glenna’s request for their communication to be limited to through a parenting app or by counsel.

“In ordering this, the court is not accepting either side’s story of events,” Johnson wrote. “Rather, the court is saying that if the petitioner’s story [Glenna] is correct, the parenting application is appropriate. If the respondent’s version of events [Matt] is correct, any harm that comes from limiting the parties’ communication to the parenting application is harmless.”

Also on April 30, Matt’s representation filed a request for the case to be sealed from public access due to their former roles as Governor and First Lady of Kentucky. The judge’s decision has not been issued and is set to be heard in court at 9 a.m. on May 6.
