Amsterdam Police arrest two on burglary, grand larceny charges

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Amsterdam Police Department reported the April 20 arrest of Jared Hernandez, 46, and Tim Torres, 52, both of Amsterdam, on Monday. These arrests followed an incident that was reported on Forbes Street in Amsterdam.

Charges

  • Second-degree burglary
  • Fourth-degree grand larceny
  • Fourth-degree conspiracy

Police say Hernandez and Torres are accused of burglarizing a home on Forbes Street and carrying construction-related items out of the house. Through an investigation, the police determined that the suspects were allegedly entering the home and taking construction equipment out since April 19 without the owner’s consent.

Third suspect arrested in Gloversville explosions investigation

Hernandez and Torres were taken into custody and police obtained a search warrant for a home on Division Street to recover the alleged stolen items. Police say an estimated $2,000 of stolen property was recovered from the house.

The suspects were arraigned in Amsterdam City Court and placed in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. The investigation remains ongoing.
