Four unsafe buildings being demolished in Amsterdam

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. ( NEWS10 )– Four vacant buildings in Amsterdam are set to be demolished in the coming weeks. The demolition is part of a bid to bring down 17 structures in The Land Bank’s service territory.

The Capital Region Land Bank is working with the City of Amsterdam on the destruction of the buildings. They have been vacant for several years and were are all declared unsafe by Amsterdam Fire Chief Anthony Agresta.

Mayor Michael Cinquanti said the Capital Region Land Bank is a crucial partner in the city’s efforts to rectify hazardous buildings. “Their assistance has been a driving force in raising property values and improving the quality of life in our most vulnerable neighborhoods and we deeply appreciate their support,” he said.
