Indianola's Kiya Koda Breaks Ground on New Shelter After $1.9M in Gifts
Dirt was already moving at 1600 E. Orchard Place on Monday as about 50 people gathered to watch Kiya Koda break ground on a new animal shelter, more than 50 years after the organization got its start housing animals in volunteers' homes. The ceremony marked a turning point for a nonprofit that has spent decades working out of what staff describe as a small, run-down and old building.

This Iowa Grocery Store Is So Huge That You’ll Keep Discovering New Finds Every Time You Visit
A grocery store with a full food hall, a candy shop, and a drive-up pharmacy window sounds like more than a quick errand. It’s real, and it sits in Iowa. The building covers about 93,000 square feet. It stocks roughly 100,000 items, so a quick milk run can easily turn into a field trip.

Inside the 2-year development of Casey's new pan pizza
Every day for the past two years, someone among the 7-member team developing new Casey's food products has been working on the convenience chain's latest offering. "I think about it often," Casey's Executive Chef Andrew Kintigh said of the pan pizza that on Wednesday, Oct. 28, will begin coming out of Casey's General Stores' 3,000 pizza ovens across the company's 19-state operating region. The new, square crust with a perimeter of golden, caramelized cheese is Ankeny-based Casey's first new variety since its thin crust pizza debuted in 2023. With olive oil and honey among the ingredients, it is fluffy on the inside and buttery on the outside. The pan pizza, like the thin-crust pies, is made to order and won't be sold by the slice. It only comes in large sizes. Its development stuck to strict parameters: It had to be able to be cooked just like the rest of Casey's pizza varieties, in the same ovens, at the same temperature for the same amount of time. That way, the only thing the chain's network of thousands of employees would have to tweak for the new pizza is the pan and spatula they use. The new pizza has been available
