Monsters in Napa: ‘…Rebobs!’ Returns to Lucky Penny
While this reviewer has definitely left some shows thinking, “What the hell was that?”, there isn’t a show that has elicited that kind of reaction from me (but in a wholly delightful and ridiculously entertaining way) as much as the Barry Martin-directed Revenge of the Rebobs! The ’80s-themed cryptozoology musical comedy runs at the Lucky Penny Community Arts Center in Napa through Nov. 8.

Review: “Revenge of the Rebobs!” in Napa
An old Napa Valley legend morphs into an outrageous musical comedy at the Lucky Penny Community Arts Center in Napa through November 8. The decades-old story purports that the hills surrounding the valley are home to hybrid critters—part ape, part bat, and with the aid of a mad scientist in the wake of World War II, part robot. As in tales of Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster, many people claim to have had encounters with the Rebobs, but nobody has ever produced incontrovertible proof.

Berkeley storytelling series rejects competitive model of slams like The Moth
In the long, high-ceilinged room of the West Berkeley Fencing Club on Addison Street near San Pablo, a few helmets were the only bits of fencing gear in view as the house lights went down. The foils, épées and sabres had been safely stowed away. But that didn’t stop the participants in a popular Berkeley storytelling series from spilling their guts.

Orinda Art Scene – November 2026
Women Printmakers of the East Bay - Masters of the Matrix. As we move towards Thanksgiving, we tend to slow down a bit to soak in the fall colors and hints of El Niño in the air – so perhaps slowing down a bit could also include viewing artwork from the California Society of Printmakers (CSP).
