Teen dead after Thursday night motorcycle crash on Soncy Road

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo Police Department reported that 19-year-old Mikeal Donovan Fierro died after a motorcycle crash on Thursday night at Soncy Road and Bent Tree Drive in southwest Amarillo.

APD detailed that at around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, officers were called to a crash between a motorcycle and a vehicle at Soncy Road and Bent Tree Drive. APD reported that Fierro was driving a 2006 Kawasaki Motorcycle northbound on Soncy “at a high rate of speed” while a GMC SUV was turning eastbound into the south alley of Bent Tree Drive.

Fierro reportedly hit the SUV and then died on the scene from his sustained injuries, according to APD.

“Speed is a factor in this crash,” APD noted and further said the incident is currently under investigation by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the APD.
