1 dead after ‘major’ Wednesday morning crash on Amarillo Boulevard and Folsom: Amarillo police report

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo Police Department released further information regarding a crash between a semi-trailer and a pickup truck that occurred at East Amarillo Boulevard and Folsom Road and resulted in the death of one person on Wednesday morning.

At around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, officers were called to the area of East Amarillo Boulevard and Folsom on a crash. APD reported that a tan Chevrolet pickup was traveling westbound on East Amarillo Boulevard while a commercial truck and trailer carrying a wind turbine base was traveling southbound on Folsom Road.

The trailer reportedly tried to turn eastbound onto East Amarillo Boulevard and the Chevy then hit the side of the trailer, APD detailed. The driver of the Chevy died on the scene while the driver of the trailer was not injured, according to APD.

APD added that the incident is currently under investigation by the Traffic Investigation Unit of the APD.

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Traffic was being diverted near US 60 Folsom Road and East Amarillo Boulevard as officials reported that a crash occurred in the area on Wednesday morning.

MyHighPlains.com staff on the scene noted that East Amarillo Boulevard at Folsom Road was blocked off in both directions as of 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday.

Drivers should be aware of emergency responders and vehicles on the scene and take a different morning route to avoid the crash site.
