All schools in Alvord ISD were placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon after the district received reports of an "active threat" on the way to a school in the city, the district says.

An Alvord ISD staff member received a phone call at about 3:40 p.m. from a person who said they were on their way to "inflict imminent harm" at a district campus, the district wrote in a Facebook post .

The district said Wise County Sheriff's deputies reported to campuses quickly and students were not in harm's way at any point. Authorities did not identify an immediate threat, but the district said a larger law enforcement presence and more counselors would be on campuses Friday.

Students were bussed to First Baptist Church in Alvord, where they were reunited with their parents.

The district canceled a band concert that was scheduled for Thursday night, but a baseball game played in Bowie went on as planned.
