Fort Myers Chicken Salad Vendor Opens First Restaurant, Keeps All 15 Markets
A chicken salad business that built its name on folding tables at Southwest Florida farmers markets has moved indoors. Twila Mae's Chicken Salad opened its first brick-and-mortar restaurant on October 23 at 18011 S. Tamiami Trail, Suite 30, in Fort Myers, tucked into the San Carlos Park Plaza behind a McDonald's. The storefront is named for owner Landon Stevenson's 89-year-old grandmother, who still lives in Missouri.

Farmers market favorite opens first Fort Myers restaurant
At first, Twila Mae just chuckled at the idea. About seven years ago, her grandson Landon Stevenson was thinking about starting a chicken salad business, selling it at local farmers markets. “She thought it was such a simple food,” Stevenson said. “She didn’t think it would resonate with people. But now she’s super proud.” And she should be. Stevenson not only found success at farmers markets throughout Southwest Florida , but he also opened his first brick-and-mortar on Oct. 23. “What started as a little family business became something much bigger,” he said during the debut of his quick-service restaurant along South Tamiami Trail in Fort Myers . It’s in the same San Carlos Park plaza that houses Spice Club Indian Grill, right behind the McDonald’s. And did we mention Stevenson named it Twila Mae’s Chicken Salad in honor of his grandma? “She’s 89 and lives in Missouri,” he said. “She’ll come here in January or February.” Twila Mae’s story begins at local farmers markets What she’ll find is a business that’s come a long way since 2020. “Our first farmers market was in Bonita Springs,” Stevenson said. “It was just my wife (Katie) and I. Award-winning Naples pizza joint to soon open a location in Lee County
The pieces are coming together quickly for Antonio Longobardo. And a key one was just delivered. “It’s a custom-built Marra Forni oven, an RT 150, the biggest one they make,” said the owner of LowBrow Pizza & Beer in Naples, Pezzo Pizza in Estero and Luigi’s Pizza e Pasta in Miromar Outlets. “(It) was hand-made in Maryland. We had to destroy a wall to get it in. It’s so big we couldn’t get it through a door.” With LowBrow thriving (readers of the Naples Daily News named it the best pizza in Collier County in 2025), Longobardo is on the cusp of opening a second location in MidTown at Bonita, with that massive oven at the heart of it. “We’re really looking forward to it,” he said. “We were working on a deal with MidTown for a couple of years. I thought LowBrow would be a great fit there.” Same LowBrow food, same LowBrow vibe When Longobardo bought the Naples location from founders Chris Jones and Henrik Lagergren in August 2024, the laid-back neighborhood pizza joint was already well established. “We’re super excited to get a blank slate to work with,” Longobardo said. “We’re really going to accentuate what LowBrow
