ST. LOUIS — A new proposal for a transitional housing facility in Alton is facing opposition from some residents. The exact location of the planned facility has not been disclosed, but residents near Oakwood Avenue and Valentine Lane have expressed their concerns about the potential proximity to their neighborhood.

The issue was brought up at the last city council meeting, where several residents voiced their opposition. In response, Alton’s Fourth Ward Alderwoman, Rosie Brown, is holding a meeting tonight at 6 p.m. at the Salvation Army on Alby Street.

A zoning application is expected to be submitted to Alton leaders by May 1, 2024.
