ST. LOUIS – The National Great Rivers Museum in Alton has launched a new art exhibit titled “Reversing Course: The Illinois River in 1900 and Today,” part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers River Project. The exhibit, which runs until November 3rd, explores the impact of diverting the polluted Chicago River into the Illinois River through a series of historical and contemporary photographs of eleven sites along the river.

The goal is to highlight the economic and ecological challenges that have arisen in the region due to this diversion. The exhibit is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
