WPIAL to hold eligibility hearing for Aliquippa football transfer Jamar Allen

The WPIAL will hold an eligibility hearing for Aliquippa sophomore Jamar Allen, an all-conference football player who transferred there from North Hills.

WPIAL executive director Scott Seltzer said the North Hills administration didn’t endorse the transfer in paperwork, raising questions of athletic intent.

“North Hills didn’t sign off,” Seltzer said. “So we’ll schedule a hearing.”

The 6-foot-1, 300-pound lineman was among seven transfers to Aliquippa in recent months. Allen earned first-team all-conference honors in the Class 5A Northeastern last year.

He announced a college offer from Temple in September.

Five other newcomers to Aliquippa’s football team were already approved by the WPIAL on school-submitted paperwork alone. Two transfers from Central Valley, sophomore J.J. Work and freshman Khalil Ellerbee, were granted eligibility Monday after their previous school dropped its opposition.

The WPIAL last month approved freshmen Sa’Nir Brooks and Larry Moon and sophomore Ray Miller. Brooks and Moon transferred from Central Catholic and Miller came from Seton LaSalle.

A seventh transfer, former Bishop Canevin linebacker Daiveon Taylor, hasn’t yet appeared on a WPIAL list of transfers seeking eligibility. Taylor is a West Virginia commit.
