ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — In January, over 100 animals were removed from a local rescue that wasn’t fully licensed to care for pets in New York State. Just a few months later, Sprite the husky is healed and is looking for her new home.

According to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, Sprite was severely emaciated when she was found at the Empawthy Rescue and was believed to be dead. When rescuers saw her shallow breaths, she was taken to Captial District Veterinary Referral Hospital where live-saving measures were performed on her.

The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society is holding adoption applications until Friday and is letting potential adopters learn more about her.

She is still currently on the mend and may have future medical needs. The humane society also says she is a rambunctious girl who doesn’t quite know “how to be a dog.” She currently lives in a foster home with other dogs and may do well with a patient dog friend her size, or a bigger dog to show her the ropes.

She is food motivated and understands some commands like sit and down. She is nervous about new experiences but may be fine with older kids who know how to interact with dogs. Those interested in adoption can find her application online .

The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society will contact anyone seen as a good fit and prospective adopters will have the opportunity to meet Sprite.
